My Very First Blog Post....
on Aug 07, 2009
This is my very first, ever  blog.  I know, welcome to the twenty-first century!  Over the years I  have written or contributed to  about twenty books and most of them I wrote out longhand. Then I would have someone type what I had written. I think I am addicted to modernity. Now I either type or use voice activated software on the computer. So I am slowly progressing.

I have done some research on the subject of blogging. Most bloggers write at least twice week and some every day. Do they not have a job? I forgot, I don’t have a job. So don’t expect  a daily blog. I checked the blog of AJ Jacobs,, who influenced me to try and live like Jesus for a year. He wanted to write a yearly blog so he could be the least published of all the bloggers. Maybe I will just write one blog for the rest of my life. Not really. I intend to write on a regular basis about the year of living like Jesus and my ongoing journey with ALS. So I guess you should welcome me to the blogasphere-whatever that is!

i am reading your devotional for people with life-threatening illnesses. love it! it scratches where i itch! i started my first-ever blog in december because i got diagnosed with breast cancer. blogs are fun. creative. free. and many times i find myself saying "it's MY blog ... i can say it if i want to". but i seek to honor Him with my honesty and 'real-ness' before people. i love doing it! i hope you do too! God bless you! .... www.savedinbrooklyn.blogspot.com

    Mr. Dobson,
I just wanted to say that I am waiting anxiously for this book to come out. I am looking forward to reading about the insights you gained about yourself, the Lord and others as a result of this experience. I am not talking about the "stuff" of living like Jesus either, but the inward journey that you took warts and all. I look forward to your blog updates as well! I hope you that you are able to come down to South Carolina at some point on your tour for the book, I would love to buy you some mexican at one of the best mexican restaraunts I have ever eaten at!

    Chris
    Thanks, again.

    Dr. Dobson,

Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts and feelings for so many of us who can't seem to find the words...

You have been an inspiration, and a friend to so many of us who try to follow Jesus, and stumble along the way.I look forward to more conversations with you in the days ahead, my friend!

Hey Ed, I was an intern under Randy Smith during your days at Calvary. I am a youth pastor at Epiphany UMC in Loveland, OH now. I am really looking forward to your book after seeing you on GMA. I was hoping you would write about your experiences. I loved A. J. Jacobs book but i am really looking forward to hearing your experience of taking on his challenge. Just wanted to let you know i appreciate all i have learned from you during my 3 years in Grand Rapids going to seminary and also listening to you slowly take over speaking at Mars Hill! It is also surprising to see all that long hair you used to have has fallen off your head and stuck to your chin. Bring your book tour to Cincinnati! I will be there! Let me know of any Ohio stops. YOu are a phenomenal man!

    hi ed!
it's great to see you here and to hear about your book. i hadn't realized you were going to publish something about your adventure. i'm thriled. i told tim about your "project" and he was very intrigued, so perhaps we'll pick up a copy and read through it together this year. thank you so much for coming to our wedding picnic, too. it meant a lot to me to see you there.

    Hello, Dr. Dobson,

I do not blog. I am actually learning how to write so I have begun to keep a journal. That sounds like blogging. Well, I want to say thank you for your exemplar life. You have been the pastor to pastors. Thank you for the investment in my ministry and I am certain this book, Living Like Jesus, is going to challenge many to really step up from playing church and to begin living the way Jesus intended His body to live.
    Blessings my brother, Kizombo

Ed, do you remember me saying the above to you nearly 20 years ago? At the risk of it being misconstrued as 'shallow' i just want to say that YOU have indeed exemplified that statement in simplicity, in faith and life itself. Again, there's more depth and breadth here...but God continues to use you to smack me upside the head. Thank you for being.....vulnerable. Thank you for being real. By the way...loved the trailer. Soooo well done. Kudo's to the boys. smilies/smiley.gif

There is a very large group of people, that you influenced at Liberty, who are very fond of you, and I am one of them. Romans ET Twenty ET, For by Grace are you saved (I can still hear your accent)
I am encouraged to see how you have embraced ALS, life is full of ups and downs but it is in the downs where Jesus meets you.
Thanks for being yourself for all of those years at Liberty!
    Whatever happened to the MG?

    Amazing Journey!

I am going to go get the book...you have been an inspiration for so many and I clearly remember many times of encouragement and guidance under your teaching at Liberty in the mid 80's. I know my parents (John and Carolyn Hibbard) would want to be remembered to you. May God continue to bless you, Lorna and the family and may His presence continue to be with you on your journey. Thank you for sharing.

With much love and admiration - Jay Hibbard

Hi, Dr. Dobson. I might seem like a stalker today--I have commented on so much of your stuff. It's just that I'm catching up and saw you prominently on FaceBook. So glad God is seeing fit to use you in so many ways. I will never forget the impact you had on me and so many others at Liberty Baptist College (now Liberty U). This so great. Now we can keep up with what you are doing and I won't have to bug you for info so much on your inbox!

    Blessings, Lydia Moore Coynersmilies/cheesy.gif

It was great to see you and Lorna at the reunion last week. I've been watching your ministry from afar and excited about the insights you have to share with us.

Also, let me encourage you to check out my son's blog. Not about ALS, but about his wife's CF (cystic fibrosis). It will encourage your bloggering.

    Hello dear Pastor Ed,
We loved having you as our pastor over at Calvary Church, and now we are excited to be reading your book and following your blog. You were and will always be one of our "shepherds" on earth. You helped lead us closer to Jesus. God Bless!
    You make me proud!

You would not remember me, but I was in your classes at Liberty in the 70's. I have been through Breast Cancer and have a chronic autoimmune disease called Sarcoidosis. We have had a business go under and are still floundering from that after 7 years. God is good and we have Him to lean on. I am so glad to have been one of your students and you will always be Dean Dobson to me! Thanks you! You are in my prayers!

If we are to worship in spirit and in truth, is it the correct thing to be frank about your sexual orientation when considering joing a church?

I worked at the Counseling Ctr under Dr. H in the early 80s. I was always blessed and inspired by your teaching/preaching ministry. Perhaps you remember the guy with Tourette's...that would be me smilies/smiley.gifYou are a tremendously gifted believer and servant of our Lord. He is greatly glorified through your life. Thank you for honoring Jesus and investing your life in us. I appreciate the candidness with which you express yourself. It has been a tremendous blessing to read your book which I purchased last Saturday...the day after I learned about it. It's hard to put it down...you have such wonderful insights. I know that you know that God has given you the hearts of many many people. I just wanted you to know that mine is one of those. I love you Doc... you're the real deal!
